Un des défis de la photographie UGF est de trouver des lentilles avec une couverture suffisante. Le fait que plusieurs lentilles utilisés en UGF n'ont pas à l'origite été construite pour la photo a comme conséquence directe que leurs spécifications telles que publiées par les constructeurs ne s'appliquent pas nécéssairement au monde photographique. C'est le cas entre autre des lentilles provenant de l'imprimerie, pour lesquelles la désignation de "grand-angle" n'a pas la même signification que pour une lentille conçue et vendue pour la photographie.

Very few modern LF lenses have enough coverage to form an image on a 20x24 piece of film. The needed image circle at infinity for
ULF shooting can be calculated by estimating the diagonal of the film size, from around 460mm in 11x14 and 7x17 to close to 800mm in 20x24. |
