Hamish Stewart
United Kingdom
Hamish Stewart has been photographing since the early 1980s. Since the mid 1990s he has worked exclusively with gum printing and has exhibited work in Sydney, Paris and London.
'Photographic print-making has always been a significant element of my practice. Working with early print-making techniques offers a level of control and involvement in the process that no commercial method can provide. The Gum process allows me to extend my print-making language beyond the purely photographic image. With full control of colour, texture and tonality a vast range of print-making approaches are possible.'
In his current work, 'Travels & Meditations', he explores the layers of time and human history that have shaped the European landscape - a personal visual diary reflecting his journeys across France, Scotland and England.
